Club Christmas Party
14th Dec 2019
14th Dec 2019
They say it takes a year, but it just doesn’t seem that long before another Christmas has rolled around. We had decided to do Big Bendi Waterslide again because it just works. It’s an ideal opportunity for members to bring the family and relax while the kids have fun on the waterslide. Today was partly cloudy, but with a top of 27 and no rain forecast.
From 11am members began arriving and by 12.30 Kim and Hoota had the Barbie fired up and the meat on. The beer was cold, the sun was shining and the onions smelled good. We were a bit light on for members today, with only 20 or so taking advantage of the free food and drinks, but that didn’t matter, those that were there were having an enjoyable time. The kids loved the waterslide and even a couple of the big kids couldn’t resist the temptation.
We’d had some sad news earlier in the day from Santa, who sent his apologies and was unable to attend today due to some elves mucking up (or something…). Rather than disappointing the kids, Adrian volunteered to take over duties, mainly because he looked so much like Santa and didn’t need the costume. And everyone knows Adrian loves kids. And kids love lollies. So crisis averted - with kids (and a couple of adults) swarming over Adrian and his big bag of sweets.
As the afternoon was drawing to a close, we packed up all our stuff, dragged the pool for remaining kids and said goodbye to Big Bendi for another year. Back at the Clubhouse we fired up the Barbie again for a feast of steak, hamburgers, sausages and onions all washed down with ice cold beer – while watching Mad Max. It doesn’t get any better than that. Well, maybe it does get a little better - Deano received the long-awaited head gasket kit for the Statey as a Christmas gift from the Prez. No excuses now mate, the Statesman will live again!
Merry Christmas to everyone, we hope you have an enjoyable and safe break and we’ll see you all next year.
