Club Cruise to Lake Eppalock and Goornong Pub

Another sunny day, must be a good day for a Club cruise. The Events Guys changed it up a bit this time and picked a Saturday. Just as well. Sunday was cold, cloudy and raining later in the day. But Saturday was sunny.
Most of the regulars turned up at the Clubhouse for the departure at 10.30 out along the McIvor Highway towards Axedale. With Hoota in the lead, driving his recently registered and pristinely restored Val ute. Apparently he did all the bodywork, paint and mechanical himself over a period of a couple of weeks - checkout the pics. It was a wonderful sight.
Not sure if he volunteered, but Steve, in his modern Monaro, was being the sweeper vehicle just in case of any breakdowns. Blissfully unaware the the sweeper car might have been having issues of its own, we cruised on our merry way out to the Spillway at Lake Eppalock. No-one realised that we'd lost Steve until a phone call from him advising he'd had a tyre failure and was on the side of the road replacing it with the space saver. We all laughed. But only until he got there, then we were sympathetic. He commented that as he drove through Axedale, some people on the side of the road were talking and waving at his car. He thought they must have liked Monaro's. Turns out they were pointing at his rear tyre as it was quickly destroying itself. We had to laugh some more. With almost an hour spent at the Spillway, and now with stomachs rumblin', it was time to fire up the classics and hit the road towards Goornong and lunch. Shane is obviously still having trouble with the tyres on his Torana, as they required cleaning while he was leaving the carpark and again later when he was leaving the Drovers Arms. It's odd that his and Deano's Statesman's tyres are the only ones that seem to get dirty regularly. Mystery. Wayne had left 15 minutes earlier - something about a "Japanese bladder" and was waiting for us at the toilets in Axedale. We all forgot, took a shortcut and drove straight past him. That's what we do.
At the Drovers Arms, the fire was warm, the beer was cold and the parma's and hamburgers were big. An enjoyable couple of hours were spent attempting to rectify the worlds problems. Seemed to work fine as we all left the Drover's Arms and headed home without a worry in the world. Except for Steve who couldn't travel over 80kph on his space saver and was passed by 15 cars, 6 trucks, 2 grannies and a farmer in a Camira towing a trailer full of animals.
Thanks Events Guys, only you know who you are.....
