Inglewood Alive Festival

November 5th, 2017
With the wind in our hair, the addictive aroma of un-burnt fuel from Brett's Falcon in front of us and the induction noises of Wayne's 302 behind us, we rolled up the Calder towards Inglewood. Add to that the occasional sweet smell from a dead kangaroo or wombat - it's gonna be a great Sunday.
A group of over 20 members had arrived at the Clubhouse this morning for the last run of the year to the Inglewood Alive Festival. Each year the main street of the town blocked off and filled with classic cars and bikes, live band, wood chop competition and food vans. Recipe for a pretty good day. We'd been there last year and the Events Guys figured it couldn't hurt to cruise up there again. We left at 10.30 and with Mal in the lead, we headed out past the Allies Pub and into Marong to regroup. There was some confusion during our stop, where Mal decided to leave, then realised no-one was ready, then stopped to wait - only to have us all drive past him. We're all sorry Mal. Caused by the two Shane's, the Prez and Brendan just being silly....
Kim still doesn't have the diff repaired in the Broughy following the incident that is now commonly referred to as simply " The Incident". He's been heard saying to Brendan "you f----d it, you fix it". The kids gonna have to learn. And we all noticed he made Carmel and his daughters drive up in Carmels Mazda. Kim's got the family sorted.
Sorry Mal, don't want to bring it up again, but the lead car's gotta stay with the plan or ya just can't be lead car.
Inglewood was busy, with the Rebels Motorcycle Club members on hand taking $5 for each car that was parking for the Show & Shine. A fairly effective security system. Deano was overheard saying to one of the angry looking biker's “Ya must be jokin’ – do ya see any shine on this”? He donated $5 anyway.
As it was last year, the street was full with classic cars and bikes and packed with people. Some of the boys headed straight for the Pub for a refreshment (long drive) and to order lunch. That’s pretty much where they stayed for next two hours as it became obvious the Pub's chef didn’t know it was Inglewood Alive today and had no idea they'd be busy. Would wanna be a good meal, cause they didn't get to see any of the cars or bikes.
During the day a Club member noticed a magazine of dubious content laying on the front seat of Deano's Statey. This was immediately reported the the Prez who laughed, then realised the seriousness and faked concern. Dean will no doubt have some explaining to do. (I took a photo of the item, but can't publish it). This behaviour of leaving magazines in full view for the general public is not condoned Dean or even a good idea.
As expected, (and vocally encouraged by the Rebels MC guys directing traffic), there was some tyre cleaning required as we exited the main street and headed back towards the Bridgey pub. The pub was cool, the beer was cold and it was a relaxing end to an awesome day.
Thank you very much Events Guys. A top year.
If anyone has the contact details for the main Committee, might be time to start organising the Club Christmas function.......
