Club "Poker Run" to Pratty's Patch

Another successful Club Cruise - no blood, and no oil spilt. (Someone let me know if there was.) The Events Boys had organised a "Poker Run" and even though we had a few questions like "what is a poker run?", it was all pretty easy on the day. Just pay your $10 entry, get a playing card, then cruise together to four more locations, picking up another four cards. The best held poker hand would be judged at Pratty's Patch and the winner would take home the pool of cash. And that's what happened.
We headed out from the Clubhouse on a sunny Saturday morning for the first Club Run of the year. The usual suspects were there, with the addition - for the first time - of two leaner drivers. Deano's daughter Sara was driving his V8 Statesman and my son was driving his JDM Spec Mazda 323. Great to see Sara and Nathan enjoying the experiences of driving in and with a group of classics. But, as much fun as driving your own car on Club runs is, there's something very serene and peaceful about laying back in the passenger seat and being chauffeured through the countryside. I expect Dean enjoyed it as much as me.
We cruised out through Huntly, then on to the Kamarooka road for several k's, before turning left and heading into Raywood. We stopped at the Pub to re-group - although we were going pretty slow, so there was not a lot of re-grouping to be done. So, stretch the legs, get another card, saddle up and move out towards the Allies Pub. We grabbed another card - everyone was complaining they "had nothing" so the game must be rigged. We headed out for the Marong Pub for the fourth card, then to Pratty's Patch for a coldy, a meal and the fifth card. I was really happy when I drew a "queen" as I already had one and no-one else seemed to have anything. My excitement was short lived when suddenly Rob stood up and says "I've got two pair - does that mean anything"? Yeah, Rob, it does. It means I don't win and I don't get the $250. Deano tells me it wouldn't have mattered as the fine print states I couldn't win anyway. But I'm still not sure.
Congratulations Rob - good earnings for the day. Might have just covered your fuel in the Monaro.
Another great run, thoroughly enjoyed by all that came along, thanks Events Guys. Lookin' forward to the next one!
