Club Run to Cairn Curran Reservoir & Mt. Tarrengower
1st March, 2015
1st March, 2015
Our first run of the year turned out to be one of the best so far. Once again we met at the Botanical Gardens in White Hills at 10.00am for an 11.00am departure. By 11.05 we had over 30 cars ready to go. We travelled through the centre of Bendigo, out to Harvey Norman to re-group, then to Maldon and Cairn Curran Reservoir. A nice cruise with a line of classic cars in a close convoy.
While a barbeque lunch was cooked, members had a chance to sit around and catch up with friends in a peacefull setting. Many thanks to Kim, Carmel and the others who organised all the meat, salads, cakes, lollies..... Well done guys!
After lunch we headed to Mt. Tarrengower. Being a hillclimb race track that is used once a year, some of the boys had an idea of a rapid cruise to the top. Someone even had the foresight to bring a two way radio..........
However, hopes of any excitement were dashed when, on arrival at the reserve at the bottom, we were greeted with tents and people and several hundred mountain biker's. Damn.
So, after a small change in plans there was a slow, subdued climb up the scenic road to the lookout at the top. Where there were more mountain bike riders. Despite not having the mountain to ourselves, it was nice at the top and we spent a couple of hours - the adults mostly on the ground, the kids running up and down the tower for exercise. However, it was over all too quickly and soon we were heading back to Bendigo. An absolute ripper of a day out.
And I didn't hear of anything breaking or overheating or leaking or falling apart this time...........
