The Events guys can tick another one off their list and place it in the success folder. Well done boys.
Meeting at the Clubrooms at 9.30 were about 18 cars ready for a nice quiet cruise thought the countryside. Weather, perfect. Temperature, perfect.
Following Wayne's briefing we hit the road out through Spring Gully and Sedgwick. I'm glad we brought jackets, because while the day was sunny, and they guys in the sedans with their windows up might not have noticed, it was still fairly cold in the convertible. There were two other convertibles in the convoy and they had jackets and scarves, so Tom and me didn't really look like pussy's with ours on.
A beautiful drive winding our way down into North Harcourt, then up the narrow road to the top of Mt. Alexander. Our leader for this cruise - Wayne - seemed to have forgotten where, or which, carpark we were parking in at the top of the mountain, so we all kind of split up a little and some of us parked in a different spot. Didn't matter though - the one's that parked in the wrong spot soon realised and joined us everyone at the top. Not too many tyres needed cooling down - road was a bit narrow and our leader was going a little slow......
But a couple of guys popped their bonnets at the rest stop just to have a quick look in case of any issues. It was a very peaceful drive on a smooth wide winding road through Faraday, Golden Point reservoir, Chewton, where we woke up some locals in this sleepy little hollow. Then we cruised through Castlemaine and on to Newstead.
Because of previous dealings the the pub just out of town, it had been decided to give them a miss and get lunch from the Bakery/cafe in the main street of town. There is a another pub in town but no lunches on a Sunday. They do have beers, which a couple of us took advantage of. Some of the guys took off early as they had planned to go out to the Huntly Car Show which was on today.
The rest of us just drifted away from Newstead and off through Maldon then back to Bendigo before everyone spit up and headed home.
No breakages, no issues, no fights, no blood. Great day!
